Happy New Year! I will be trying to blog everyday this year.
Today, We are going to do Christmas returns and doing some shopping with our gift cards. Shopping is always a learning experience, all the signs are great for practicing new numbers and letters.Later, We will wipe down all the walls and mop the floors, I make sure the house is in tip top shape for the new year. At midnight little one, significant other and I are always together by ourselves,we each get 12 grapes 1 for each month of the new year and we make a wish for each up coming month and eat the grapes as we make the wishes. We also take the water I used to clean the house and dump it out the window to symbolize our home being cleansed of all bad energy. These are the 2 traditions my family always had when I was growing up. Significant others family always watched Dick Clark and used noisemakers outside to mark the new year so we will be doing that as well.
On Monday January 2nd we will be taking King to his first movie in the theater. We will be watching Thomas and Friends: Day of the Diesels. Little one loves Thomas so we are pretty sure it will keep his attention for 1 hour. I consider this trip a great learning opportunity for King he will be learning what a movie theater is like and have the experience of watching a movie on a big screen.
I work full time so I will be back to work on Tuesday from 4- 11 pm and everyday until Friday. It's a new schedule for me so I will be tweeking our schedule again and see what works for use. I am thinking, I have a 1 hour commute and then I need to unwind and get ready for bed so I am thinking bedtime will be 2 am for me and I can wake up at 10 am and do lunch at 11 and play with King and clean up around the house until 3 when I have to leave for work. Kings father will need to take care of him for the 2-3 hours he is awake before I am and during the afternoon and night hours while I am at work and sleeping. So much of the household responsibilities will fall on him. I just hope he gets on the ball quickly.
Being only 3 everything is a learning experience for King and I am hoping we can keep it that way for a long time. We live so close to NYC we have so many great resources, museums, zoos, parks, festivals, parades, farms, beaches, lakes, rivers, historical sites etc. I am looking forward to showing him the World starting with our little corner of it. I never want him to loose that love for learning new things, that excitement when he discovers something new, that look of accomplishment in his eye when he figures out something on his own. Hopefully, all things work out well and we are able to proceed with our plan to unschool King through college or high school whichever he chooses.
